The Union of Asia, Africa, and Latin America Health Peoples convened a meeting, attended by all Presidential Council members under the leadership of Dr. Tamer Abu Humayla, the Union's President.
The meeting discussed various points of interest to the Presidential Council, including the three-year action plan to be implemented. This includes initiating the signing of protocols with all drug regulatory authorities at the member states' level, starting with the Egyptian Drug Authority in the Arab Republic of Egypt and also the unified procurement authorities in the member countries, starting from the unified procurement authority in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Discussions were also held about arranging meetings with ambassadors, especially those who attended the founding conference in June 2024, as well as embassies from many countries cooperating with the Egyptian Drug Authority through protocols, including South Africa, Kenya, and many African countries.
Dr. Abu Humayla emphasised that this will greatly facilitate the main goal discussed, starting with unifying accreditation certificates and regulatory rules for the pharmaceutical and medical supplies industry among all member states. This will ease trade exchanges of medical supplies and pharmaceutical goods among all countries, facilitating intra-trade between member states.
The Union President also mentioned that the budget for the Union in the upcoming period was preliminarily discussed, and membership fees were reduced to encourage those who meet the membership criteria to join, whether at the institutional or individual level.
Dr. Tamer Abu Humayla explained that the organisational structure for managing the upcoming three-year period has been formed, identifying over 17 sectors. For example, but not limited to, the health sector, agriculture sector, environmental sector, digital economy sector, small projects sector, pharmaceutical industry sector, among others. Of these, the banking and stock market sector, project financing sector, political communication sector are the most important, all contributing to achieving the plan set for the next three years.
