In a large conference held at a hotel in 6th of October City, the inauguration of the Health Union of the Peoples of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, stemming from the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization, was announced.
This occurred at the founding conference of the union, attended on behalf of the President of the Solidarity Organization by journalist Nizar Al-Khaled, the Assistant President of the Organization, and the President of the Afro-Asian Media Union.
The General Assembly of the union members elected Dr. Tamer Abu Humaila, an orthopedic surgery consultant, as the President of the union, and Dr. Adel Ahmed Al-Balous, Mustafa Abdel Aal, and Dr. Malak Mohamed as Vice Presidents by acclamation.
Additionally, Dr. Hiba Abdel Fattah Abdel Aal was elected as Secretary-General, with Mohamed Ahmed Omar and Maryam Mohamed as Assistant Secretaries-General.
The General Assembly of the union members approved the executive regulations and the internal system of the union as soon as the legal quorum was completed, after being reviewed by Mustafa Abdel Aal, the head of the preparatory committee.
In his speech, delivered on behalf of Dr. Helmy El-Hadidi, President of the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization, media personality Nizar Al-Khaled welcomed the attendees, wishing them and the Health Union of the Peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America a bright future in the context of the new republic, whose foundations were laid and whose pillars were established by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Al-Khaled added: "The Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization has taken on the responsibility of establishing professional and specialized unions aimed at driving economic, social, cultural, and media development in the continents of the Old World: Asia, Africa, and Latin America, which constitute the southern half of the globe."
The Assistant President of the Solidarity Organization said: "The Health Union of the Peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America is now launching globally to achieve the ambitions we have been aspiring to in providing health and medical needs for the peoples of the three continents, especially Africa, where many countries still struggle to meet their basic needs for medicine and food."
He pointed out: "The COVID-19 pandemic sounded the alarm for Africans regarding the terrifying inadequacies of their health systems in facing such major challenges, at a time when major countries were preoccupied with their internal affairs and abandoned Africa under the pressure of the great challenge. This happened when African countries had become accustomed to the idea of external aid and had not realized that building self-capacities and self-reliance is the only way to ensure survival for African peoples and governments."
He affirmed: "In this context, the idea of our union was formed to focus primarily on discovering ways for Africa to rely on itself, as well as methods and approaches for building self-sufficient health capacities."
He concluded: "We cannot ignore the Egyptian efforts in supporting African brothers, considering Egypt as one of the major African countries since President El-Sisi took office."
The inauguration ceremony of the union, held last Saturday evening, was attended by the ambassadors of Uganda, Sudan, and Djibouti, Colonel Frank Bakunzi, the military attaché at the Rwandan Embassy in Cairo, Omar Netize Imbiere, the Polish ambassador and extraordinary ambassador of Ghana, Lieutenant General Obeid Buama Akwa, Abdel Ghaffar Kamal Zada, advisor at the Embassy of Tajikistan, and Dr. Nahla Al-Saeedi, advisor to the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar for expatriate affairs.
